Design a Ring from Scratch

Redesign, Reset, or Transform an Existing Ring

This path is the one most people don't know to ask about — and often the most emotionally significant. Inherited rings, family diamonds, stones passed down through generations: these already carry meaning. The question isn't whether to keep them. It's how to give them a new life that actually gets worn.

What modifying an existing ring can look like:

How Long Does a Custom Engagement Ring Take?

Timeline planning is the single most common thing people wish they'd thought about earlier. Here's what to expect across the three paths:

• Ring Builder — In-stock settings can often be sized and ready within a couple of weeks. Special order settings may take longer. The builder shows in-stock availability so you know what's possible on your timeline before committing.
• Fully Custom — Plan for 4–6 weeks minimum from first consultation to finished ring. More complex designs, specialty stones, or specific metal requirements can add time. Starting 8–10 weeks before your proposal date gives comfortable buffer.
• Modification — Depends on the scope of work. Simple resets can be completed in a couple of weeks. Full heirloom redesigns go through the same custom process as a new ring — 4–6 weeks. Bring the piece in early so we can assess accurately.
